June 29, 2023

New Kenneth Armitage Fellow 2023- 2025, London 8th June 2023.

British artist, Anya Gallaccio, is to take up the Kenneth Armitage London Fellowship in September 2023. She will be the ninth artist to be awarded the Fellowship and succeeds the current Fellow, Shahpour Pouyan whose fellowship finishes in July.

Anya Gallaccio is internationally known for her audacious play with the conventions of sculpture and for her use of often organic and precarious materials. Since 2014 Gallaccio has been living between London and San Diego.  The Fellowship marks the start of her research into new projects for an upcoming survey show at Turner Contemporary Margate.

The Kenneth Armitage Foundation

The Foundation is the charitable legacy of the sculptor Kenneth Armitage (1916-2002), one of the first young post-war British Sculptors to receive international acclaim. The Foundation supports sculptural tradition by awarding financial assistance to artists of all ages.

The Fellowship Programme

The Kenneth Armitage Foundation awards a two-year residency to a selected sculptor, during which the sculptor is able to live, work and exhibit at Armitage’s former West London studio residence. In accordance with Armitage’s wishes and the Foundation’s mission statement, the goal is to support an artist of particular merit to provide them with the opportunity to produce and show a substantial body of work.
